Mr. Robert Duryea started working at the Commission in May of 1988 as a seasonal lab/field assistant. In October 24, 1988 he was hired on a fulltime basis as Entomologist. Mr. Duryea has a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies from East Stroudsburg University (ESU) and has completed additional graduate courses in Entomology at ESU. He also holds certification in "Mosquito Identification Habitat and Recognition" from Rutgers University and is a Certified Pesticide Applicator in NJ. Mr. Duryea is an avid outdoorsman participating in hunting and fishing activities.
Mr. Duryea is responsible for coordinating the larval control programs including ground applications, aerial larviciding activities and the bio control (fish stocking) program. He supervises seasonal employees and is also responsible for related in house training. Mr. Duryea carries out the disease surveillance trapping, helps identify and prepare samples for testing and also performs in-house testing of mosquitoes for West Nile Virus.
Mr. Duryea is a regular member of the New Jersey Mosquito Control Association, Inc. and an associate member of the Associated Executives of Mosquito Control Work in NJ, participating on committees for both these organizations. He is also a regular member of the American Mosquito Control Association.
